1. Is the WellnessLight KIDS harmful to humans or pets?
The coating used on the WellnessLight KIDS creates a powerful oxidation process called Photocatalytic Oxidation. It is a natural substance called Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) which is formed in a safe binding process developed by Nanostar Green Technologies, Inc. Once dried it becomes part of the glass itself so it will not come off. It is completely harmless to humans and animals and is actually used widely as a food additive and in everyday products such as sunscreen and cosmetics.

2. Why is indoor air pollution a problem?
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) calls indoor air pollution one of the greatest risks to human health. Indoor air can be as much as 100 times more polluted than outside air. Possible health effects of poor indoor air quality include irritation, allergies, asthma, cancer, as well as reproductive and developmental problems. Most products used indoors, including furnishings, construction materials, carpet, paint, dry cleaning, consumer products and cleaners release volatile chemicals (VOCs), including formaldehyde. 3. What are Volatile Organic Compounds or VOCs?
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), are chemicals used in the manufacture of certain building materials, interior furnishings, cleaning products, and personal care products. "Volatile" implies that these chemicals evaporate, or get into the air easily at room temperature. That makes them an indoor air concern. Studies by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other researchers have found that VOCs are common in the indoor environment and that their levels may be ten to thousands of times higher indoors than outdoors. There may be anywhere from 50 to hundreds of individual VOCs in the typical modern-day home. Many VOCs are irritants and can cause headaches, eye, nose and throat irritation, and dizziness. Long-term exposure to certain VOCs might lead to chronic diseases or cancer. At high concentrations, some VOCs are toxic.

4. How long does the light have to be on before it starts to eliminate indoor air pollutants?
Testing has shown that the powerful effects of oxidation start happening immediately after the light is switched on. Normal everyday air circulation must occur in the room for the process to effectively work. Once the contaminants touch the surface of the light they are instantly killed. One WellnessLight advanced CFL is sufficient for a 200 sq ft room (19 sm) with an standard 8 foot ceiling. For larger rooms or rooms with high ceilings, two (2) WellnessLights are recommended.

5. Exactly what type of odors are eliminated?
It will destroy on contact virtually any odor including smoke. The odor is removed from the air when the odor molecule comes into contact with the treated surface of the CFL.
